Review: Fresh

Last modified date

Fresh (2022) is a comedy horror starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Sebastian Stan. The film starts off as a romantic comedy and then attempts one of the most fun and shocking tonal shifts I’ve ever seen on film.

I truly bought into the romantic connection between the two leads in the first act, so I was entirely gullible enough to feel surprised by the sudden flip to horror.

Daisy Edgar-Jones’s performance is impressive. That tonal shift to horror that I keep raving about? That was all her. She sells it and captures an intensity that truly elevates the film.

Sebastian Stan is charming as always and delivers some sick and twisted sequences. If not for his stellar acting range, the film would not be the effective multi-genre experience that it is.

Fresh (2022) is captivating, highly romantic and absolutely horrific, and in my opinion, one of the best horrors in the last two years.
