Review: Perfect
Synopsis
One man’s attempt to free himself of any flaws, only to learn that perfection can mean many things.
Perfect (2023), directed by Karim Ayari, is a short film that understands the depths of longing to be understood.

The story follows Julius, a man with Tourette Syndrome, recount to his therapist a disastrous dinner date that he recently went on. Ayari directs a tender story that allows Julius to tell everything that he is, could be, and wants to be. The enormity of Tourette Syndrome is difficult to get right on film, but Ayari eloquently communicates the grim but hopeful realism of it.

Perfect (2013) is an incredible short film that touches you deeply and forces you to converse with yourself over what you think you know about others.
After competing in the CBC Short Film Face-off in 2013, Perfect went on a whirlwind global festival tour entertaining and educating audiences across Canada, the US, the UK, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, and Australia. Perfect also received a glowing review from the Tourette Syndrome Foundation of Canada and praise from the New Jersey Center for Tourette Syndrome. The film is now available to view via its official website.
