Review: Bon Cop, Bad Cop (Crave Series)
Synopsis
Two police officers find themselves at the heart of an investigation in an Indigenous community, supported by a team of young police officers who are just as unorthodox as they are.
Bon Cop, Bad Cop: The Series marks the 20th anniversary of the original 2006 film and builds on the success of the 2006 and 2017 features, landmark Canadian buddy cop action comedies known for their sharp take on the cultural divide between English and French Canada.
The new limited series continues the story while expanding its scope and deepening its themes for a new chapter.

The pilot episode was shown to invited guests at an event hosted by Crave, funding partners and supporters at the Rogers Centre in Ottawa. Several cast members attended and participated in a Q&A following the screening. Creator and star Patrick Huard, who reprises his role as Detective David Bouchard, spoke about expanding the premise to feature stronger female and Indigenous characters.

The first episode sets up the series with the mysterious disappearance of a band chief from an Indigenous community in the Gaspé Peninsula. Detectives David Bouchard (Patrick Huard) and Martin Ward (Henry Czerny), reunite to investigate, joined by a new generation of officers including David’s daughter Gabrielle (Sarah-Jeanne Lacrosse), and Joe Broom (Joshua Odjick), a Mi’kmaq officer from the Gesgapegiag community.
Bon Cop, Bad Cop: The Series blends action and comedy against the backdrop of intersecting English, French, and Mi’kmaq languages and cultures. It premieres on Crave on May 7, 2026. Check it out.
