Review: After Ever Happy

Last modified date

After Ever Happy (2022) is the fourth installment of the After movie series, following After We Fell (2021), After We Collided (2020) and After (2019). The next one is apparently coming out later this year, and it’s going to be called After Everything (2023).

The series is basically Fifty Shades of Grey for college kids. It’s an adaptation of the book series written by Anna Todd, and it’s about a toxic college couple who are madly in love but can’t stop fighting. They break up and get back together multiple times in each movie, and that’s not a spoiler, that’s the whole premise of these movies.

Is their relationship sexy or is it toxic? That’s the whole hook, and the massive fanbase has gotten obsessed.

Starring in these movies are Hero Fiennes Tiffin (nephew of Ralph Fiennes) and Josephine Langford (younger sister of Katherine Langford). Both of them are disgustingly good looking, but that’s not to say they don’t carry their own weight as excellent actors.

These movies aren’t for everyone, but they’re fun. Actually they’re not even fun, they’re just plain addicting. You’re horrified by how toxic the couple is, but holy moly, you can’t wait for them to get back together.

In his youth Alvin loved watching movies and would find himself spending his lunch money and allowance at the box office. He loved the Matrix and the X-Men films, and somewhere along the way, he discovered a love for horror movies — Hereditary, Midsommar and Mother! being his favourites. He now holds a professional writing diploma, a couple of journalism degrees, and likes to spend his free time reviewing movies on IMDB and for various magazines. @alvinwct
